Build Your Own Anonymous Giving MinistryWhy give to others anonymously? The need for anonymous giving is based on a simple fact of human nature. Whenever a person receives a gift, it seems natural for the receiver to seek out the giver and to thank them for the provision of the gift. Some might even feel compelled to "repay" the cost of the gift so that they don't feel in debt to the provider. When you give anonymously, you take away the recipient's ability to thank anyone but God for His provision. An anonymous gift given in God's name will cause the recipient to either, consider the possibility that God is real, He loves them and cares about their needs, or it may renew their faith and bolster their (already existent), relationship with God. No matter what the level of a person's faith, knowing the identity of the gift's provider will reduce their thankfulness to God because of their misdirected gratitude. It is a little like thanking the pen for a beautifully written poem. That might not make much sense, but it is exactly what happens when the human provider of a gift is thanked, at all, for its provision. |
